Bathers Library is opening a free/lo-cost art school, taught by community members (like you!). Our first program will be reading groups for the Fall/Winter 2024 (see below). Writing group info/applications coming soon.

If you are interested in teaching/creating other type of classes/workshops (drawing/technical/film/digital/etc), or are just interested in general, get in
touch!!!

FALL/WINTER 2024

Reading Groups are like brief, thematic book clubs created by our community. Reading groups can be based on a topic, theme, author, or whatever other interesting organizing principle you'd like to suggest.

Reading groups should be structured to last around 8-10 weeks, and to be able to have between 5-15 or so people.

The range of topics is pretty wide open right now—just putting this invitation out to see who is interested in what! Got an idea? Propose it!

We will do our best to accommodate as many proposals as possible. Once groups are selected, we'll promote the season of groups and gather attendees.

A $100 honorarium will be given to all accepted groups with at least 5 attendee sign ups. If under 5 people sign up for the group, it will not be offered in the final program (and we'll welcome you to resubmit next time!).

Timeline: Deadline for submission is October 7th. Groups will be announced and sign-ups will begin around October 14th. Meetings will begin the first week of November.

Note: We've never done this before, so we would love any feedback or advice or questions you have. Please feel free to reach out at batherslibrary@gmail.com.

The Writing Workshop will be a place to bring written works  in progress to share with other writers for feedback and accountability. Each group will be limited to 8 participants and will be grouped thematically/by interest. More info/applications will be coming soon!

Residencies are up to four months, and are free to artists. Residents may share space with another artist/writer, or may have solo space. We’ll work it out! Residencies will culminate in a public program/talk and some kind of publication. Details and application information coming soon!
